Veze Skante BIO

Veze Skante’s street grind got him heard

For years Latin rap music has established a presence on the west coast and continues to be consistent with record sales in the region. The music was often stereotyped with low-riders and the Chicano gangster image, until now. Finally, Latinos in Hip Hop are making a mainstream presence with record sales, marketing, radio play and cross-cultural promotion.

One artist that has always been ready for this mainstream presence is Veze Skante, a 25-year-old Latino rapper from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, California. Veze is what we call the new breed of Mexican rap or what he likes to call himself “The Voice of the people.” The lyrics in his music mirror the rough environment he grew up in. At the early age of 14 he got his 13yr old girlfriend pregnant. He was forced to start thinking like a man at such a young age. The next year he focused and got his G.E.D. and at the age of 15 he also became the proud father of a baby boy.

With all the tough times that would face this 15yr old father, Veze turned to music as an outlet to his frustrations, bringing people his experiences and life on the page. The hard streets became his tool and became his education. One of his low points was watching his uncle and cousin be sent to prison. Losing two members of his team at such a crucial time in his career had a huge effect in his character. Once again, he was faced with the harsh realities of life. With his uncle and cousin in jail, Veze Skante could not let these hardships get in the way of his dreams. He knew he was going to have to work that much harder. He promised them he would hold it down from the outside and hustled in the industry to get his music heard.

Veze Skante’s street grind got him heard by the ear of music video and feature film director Jessy Terrero. Jessy Terrero directed the feature film Soul Plane for MGM and major music videos for music heavyweights like Enrique Iglesias, Carlos Santana, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Lionel Richie, Nickelback, Wisin and Yandel, Daddy Yankee, etc.  Soon after this initial meeting, Terrero and Veze formed a partnership. Terrero has influenced him. Veze has taken his street mentality and applied it to his music. Veze and Terrero inked a joint venture and Capo Regime records was created. Veze has created the company on a multi level platform to help launch his many business ventures from Music, film, clothing, etc.

To date Veze has accumulated respectable records sales. He has licensed tracks to the hit series CSI Miami and movies like Home of the Brave and The Honeymooners. He also had an acting role in the movie Rikers, starring DL Hughley. His street anthem “Sucio” and the new single “Back to You” are both catching heat at radio, while debuting videos directed by Terrero on both Mun2 and MTV3.

Veze Skante’s mission is to keep representing all Latinos and breaking new ground. Mexico Stand Up!!!!
